Civilize Us

In June 2021, Georgina wrote the song Civilize Us when the remains of 215 children were discovered at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, BC. Since June, thousands of more remains have been discovered across the country.
For years, millions of First Nations children were forcibly taken from their homes and families and placed into government/ religious run institutions where they tried to 'kill the indian in the child'. Many children died and would never see their families again, still more were abused and suffered years of loneliness, isolation and cultural depravation.
Civilize Us features hereditary chief Paul Wyse-Seward and family, along with four- year-old Arthur Hawkins, all of Snuneymuxw First Nations in Nanaimo, BC, Canada.
